MICHIGAN — Big changes are coming to Michigan’s Mega Millions Lottery, promising players better odds and bigger prizes—but at a higher price.
Starting in April 2025, Mega Millions tickets will jump from $2 to $5. While the Mega-Plier bonus will be eliminated, every ticket will now include a built-in multiplier for non-jackpot prizes at no extra cost. This means every winning ticket will pay more than $5, getting rid of break-even wins.
Another major change involves the numbers you’ll select for your ticket. Jake Harris, spokesperson for the Michigan Lottery, shares:
“Players currently pick five numbers from 1-70 and one Mega Ball from 1-25. In the new version, there will be a completely new set of numbers, improving the odds and increasing the chance of hitting the jackpot.”
One thing that stays the same? A portion of every ticket sold will continue to support the Michigan School Aid Fund, providing crucial funding for local schools.
The full details of the new number pool are still under wraps but will be announced before the launch in April 2025. Get ready for a fresh take on Mega Millions and your shot at winning bigger prizes!
