Gift Responsible this Holiday Season

Gift Responsible this Holiday Season

Please Remember: Lottery tickets are not for children

The Michigan Lottery has teamed up with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG). This to remind players to gift responsible when using lottery tickets as gifts.

According to MI Lottery rules, it is illegal for people below the age of 18 to gamble. So, lottery tickets are not gifts for minors. This includes tickets for games such as Mega Millions, Powerball, and Lucky For Life, as well as the popular instant game tickets, which often are given as gifts during the holidays.

Research shows that children who gamble run a higher risk of developing gambling problems as adults. So, please be mindful and practice gift responsible when gifting lottery tickets this holiday season. While lottery products make great gifts for loved ones, they are a bad idea for minors. For more information about the Lottery’s responsible giving campaign, visit www.milotteryconnect.com/holiday-responsible-giving.

The holidays may be a stressful time for some people. Thus, avoid gaming activities while stressed. The MI Lottery reminds players to gamble responsibly. The Michigan Problem Gambling Helpline is available to provide free, one-on-one support for players who may have a problem. For confidential help 24 hours a day, seven days a week, players may call 800-270-7117. Chat and text options also are available through www.michiganlottery.com/responsible_gaming.
