Members of a lottery club from Wayne County have won a $1 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery. The three-person group, named the 1029 Lottery Club, matched all five white balls in the October 29, 2022 drawing. The winning numbers were 19-31-40-46-57. The club purchased their ticket at Billy’s Liquor Depot II on Grand River Avenue in Redford.
The $1-million prize was won during a run in which the jackpot reached a world record of $2.4 billion. It started on August 6, 2022, with no winner until November 7, 2022, drawing when a lucky player from California matched all five numbers plus the Power Ball to win the record-breaking jackpot. Michigan Lottery players purchased over 43 million tickets during the jackpot run, with players winning over $18 million, including nine prizes of $1 million.
The last player from Michigan to win the Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis of Waterford, who took home the $70 million jackpot on February 12, 2020.
The last time a player won the Powerball jackpot was on April 19, when a person from Ohio won the $252.6 million jackpot. The current jackpot is at $ 400 million for the next drawing to be held on Wednesday night.
Powerball tickets are available for $2 at Lottery retailers throughout Michigan or online at MichiganLottery.com. The Power Play option is available for an additional $1, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes up to 10x to a maximum of $2 million. For an additional $1, the Double Play feature can be added to a Powerball ticket, which gives players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the Double Play drawing.
Michigan Lottery players have a chance to win a big Mega Millions jackpot, which also hasn’t had a winner since April. Mega Millions tickets can be purchased for $2, with the chance to add a Megaplier for an additional $1 per play that multiplies non-jackpot prizes up to 5x. Mega Millions is available to players in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Players have until 10:45 pm to purchase tickets for Tuesday night’s drawing. The estimated jackpot for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing is $300 million.
